I Crammed our Round the World Trip into a 5 Minute Music Video
Raise your hand if you grew up with your parents lugging a giant Beta video camera around on summer trips. Mom may as well have been the cameraman for Conan, or shooting a doc for the Discovery Channel with that beast.
The apple has not fallen far from the tree. While I've gotten lucky with the advancement of technology, I'm still procuring my momdom by making a video we can all sit around and watch when Sia is older.
The video follows the 4 month lifespan of Sia, from 8 months to her birthday, as she visits Kuna Indians in Panama, the Land Divers in Vanuatu to the Himba women in Namibia & more. She also learns to climb down temple stairs, sees a lion and & learns to eat rice in Japan.
My favorite element, though, was taking local music I discovered in each region and weaving together my own soundtrack.
It is a quick "fly-by" (though not all featured in the video: the cutting room floor, people!) through Colombia, Panama, San Blas Islands, Okinawa, Hokkaido, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tikehau, Rarotonga, Niue, Australia, Indonesia (Bali), Africa (South Africa and Namibia). Enjoy!
